Epiphany Lutheran Preschool

A Preschool Where Every Child is A Gift from God

Learning excellence in a faith-based environment

About Us

At Epiphany Lutheran Preschool (ELP), we view children and families as precious resources given by God. Specializing in early childhood education for 2½-5-year-olds, we are proud to offer academic excellence in an enriching, faith-based environment where children grow in knowledge and the love of God, as well as physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Starting in 1992, Epiphany’s Preschool program continues to grow in number, but we are committed to keeping our class sizes very small. Our experienced staff of caring teachers and administrators provides two, three, four, and five-day-per-week morning programs for 2½-5-year-olds.

“ELP has been a blessing for our four children! The teachers and staff are welcoming, kind, and caring, teaching children academically and socially while incorporating Christianity into their everyday routines. My husband and I continue to brag about ELP and what the preschool believes in and strives for each and every day!” – Emily and Bryan, four children.

Missions

Our Mission

Epiphany Lutheran Preschool views children and families as a precious resource, given by God. Through our preschool, we have the opportunity to provide a Christian atmosphere and stimulating environment in which children may grow in knowledge and love of God as well as physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Our Philosophy

During the first five years of life, children grow and learn rapidly. They are like little sponges, soaking up all the information that comes in through their senses. They get this information by being inquisitive, independent, and lovingly guided. We believe children learn best by doing and by being actively involved.

In an attractive and well-planned environment, our qualified, Christian teachers will guide and stimulate the children’s natural curiosity and initiative. In our school, children are allowed the space and materials to play, work, listen, think, and create.

Our Goals
  • To meet the basic needs of each child’s good health, and physical and mental development
  • To provide each child with attention, acceptance, and affection
  • To help each child develop a positive self-image and sense of competence and understand that he/she is a unique individual, created and loved by God
  • To encourage each child to develop a concern for others, a sense of community, and a spirit of sharing and through this development enhance the atmosphere at home
  • To create a loving, Christian atmosphere in which each child can feel secure and comfortable away from home and family
  • To provide a well-balanced set of activities based on current child development knowledge
  • To provide a warm, caring, Christian staff who are knowledgeable in early childhood education and have the ability to work successfully with young children and their families
  • To foster creativity, exploration, self-discipline, and a love of learning
  • To assist parents in guiding the development of their children
  • To be a school where children, parents, and staff will feel and know God’s love
Priorities and Philosophy

The growth and development of children are the reason we are here. We consider it a great honor, but also an important responsibility to provide academic excellence and social learning as one of the first foundations to your child’s educational journey.  We encourage parents to be involved in our program in many ways. From classroom and playground volunteers to being part of Team hELP our parent organization, there are many opportunities to be involved in your child’s preschool experience.

Highly qualified Team of Staff and Teachers

Our teachers are committed to excellence and enhancing the education, care and confidence of children. We provide a safe and loving learning environment, focusing on developmental, social, and faith learning. Our trained and experienced staff members have passed background checks and are certified in CPR/AED, first aid, communicable disease recognition, and child abuse prevention. They also have a heart for loving Jesus, serving others, and caring for His children.

Curriculum and Interactive Experiences

As one of your child’s first formal learning experiences, we value the time the children are in our care. Your child will learn and grow in a Christian environment, learn the role of the learner in a classroom, grow in all developmental and curricular areas, and have fun! We offer Chapel twice per month with our pastors and music time twice a month.

Every day we focus on core curricular skills: fine and gross motor, language, math, science, social studies, art and dramatic play. A balance of structured learning plus free play and interaction between our staff and children promotes intellectual, social, and physical skills while promoting confidence and independence.

Secure and Safe Environment

Our preschool classrooms and lobby are locked with a security system. An intercom and camera monitor those who arrive at ELP and access to the preschool is managed by the office staff.

Nurturing, Clean, and Well-equipped Facilities

Our classrooms are organized in centers to allow children to learn at their own pace and enjoy independence in choosing activities. Children will participate in large and small group activities as well as one-on-one with the teacher. We encourage you to schedule a visit to our space located on the lower level of the Far Hills Campus.
